Abstracts

J. Mane Gallery is proud to present our Abstracts online juried art exhibition.

Abstract art doesn't attempt to represent an accurate depiction of visual reality. Instead, it relies on shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect. In abstract art, the subject matter is often stylized, simplified, or entirely removed from its recognizable form. The emphasis is on the artist's expression and interpretation of their subject matter rather than a faithful rendering of it. This style of art can evoke a wide range of emotions and interpretations from viewers since it often leaves room for personal reflection and imagination.

For this competition, artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of abstract art.  The artwork submitted varied from realism to surrealism to abstraction, and all media were accepted, including 3-D. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best inspired work.

Each of our themed exhibitions, awards for Best In Show, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.

The remaining artists included in the exhibition serve as an example of impressive talent and we are honored to showcase their artwork on the J. Mane Gallery website.

We thank all the competition participants. If you are interested in purchasing any of the artwork in this exhibition, please contact the artists directly. J. Mane Gallery does not enter into the selling of artwork featured in any of the monthly online exhibitions. You will find the artist's website or email by clicking on the images below.

Thank you for visiting our website and enjoy the exhibition!

Her book, "Huey Atlixcayotl -The Art in the Glance,” was published in October 2023 by the government of the state of Puebla, Mexico. The book documents the yearly indigenous dance festival in Atlixco, Puebla, with her photographs taken in the 1970s and 1980s. Doyle, Mixed Media, 14 x 17

Virginia Gott

As a mixed-media artist, I utilize printing, drawing, and painting to create works. Light and texture in landscape elements and the surrounding atmospherics, as well as subjects of influence, are my inspirations. My approach is expressionism and abstraction rather than replicating forms precisely. The drawing elements in my work, mostly pencil, are directly linked to my youth, when I first discovered the joy of drawing. The strokes and markings not only give texture and movement, they also remind me to have fun with creating art as I did in my youth.
