Robert Palmer
Third Place
“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” Vincent Van Gogh I am an artist. I am a painter. I seek to expand my portfolio and exhibit my professional work through public space. My goal is to gain exposure and grow my artistic talents as an emerging artist. Robert has been painting and drawing most of his life. He graduated sum cum laude from ASU in 2003. He has been exhibiting in local shows and juried exhibitions for past several years. He has gained some awards an recognition along the way. Some additional skills are watercolor painting, oil and acrylic painting, woodworking, printmaking and is fluent in Spanish.Roberts subject matter revolves around landscape. Many of the landscape pieces are captured moments at locations where he has spent time with my family. The paintings help create vivid memories of his experiences. It’s about capturing a moment in time. His portfolio consists of balancing subject matter between two ideas; large open spaces and small concentrated spaces, both in landscape. Small spaces can be representational of a scene vague but recognizable at the same time. Images take on similar representational compositions when looking at the wide open sky or reflections in water.
