abstracts

J. Mane Gallery is proud to present its Abstracts online juried art exhibition.

Abstract art uses the visual language of shapes, form, color, and texture to create a composition that is independent of visual references in the world.  It can mean anything in an artist's emotional life they want it to mean.  It awakens our curiosity as viewers about the limits of our imagination.

For this competition, artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision.  All media were accepted, including 3-D. Artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best-inspired work.

Each of our themed exhibitions, awards for Best In Show, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards. Artists represented in this exhibition are from the USA, Canada, Australia, and Estonia.

The remaining artists included in the exhibition serve as an example of impressive talent and we are honored to showcase their artwork on the J. Mane Gallery website.

We thank all the competition participants. If you are interested in purchasing any of the artwork in this exhibition, please contact the artists directly. J. Mane Gallery does not enter into the selling of artwork featured in any of the monthly online exhibitions. You will find the artist's website or email by clicking on the images below.

Thank you for visiting our website and enjoy the exhibition!

Untitled Acrylic. 94cm x 70cm

Estelle Asmodelle

I am the daughter of an artist. For the last four decades, I have been painting serious pieces. And I’ve been a full-time professional artist for six years now. My work is contemporary, eclectic, and generally takes the style of abstract expressionism. I will reflect a different artistic viewpoint in a highly abstract manner and an expressive and modernist style. I am devoted to working on large canvas works, drawing in the observer rather than being viewed from the outside. I like to think of my abstract works as reflective of an observer’s ideas and emotions. I believe that art’s greatest gift is not what we see in art but rather ourselves.

Big Crystal Digital Painting 30 x 40

Andrea Hellman

Andrea Hellman, Ed.D., is an associate professor of English at Missouri State University. She studied studio art at the School of the Worcester Art Museum with masters of painting and printmaking like Tom Lewis, Sally Bishop, and Ella Delyanis. Andrea’s current art projects are about play and exploration. She experiments with color schemes, curious shapes, light patterns, varied lines, dynamic compositions, and her own texture brushes. Her digital brushwork expresses feelings of warmth and connectedness. She occupies herself with “what if” questions to generate creative imagery: What if I could capture a 360-degree view of these woods? What if a dragonfly’s wing was a stained glass window? What if these blooms crystallized or melted? What if birds were dancers and dancers were birds? She visualizes her musings and sensations in the present. Andrea lives in the picturesque Ozarks region in a thriving arts community, surrounded by beauty in all directions. Artists, actors, poets, writers, musicians, and dancers are everywhere, set against a stunning backdrop of scenic parks, hills, woodlands, and lakes. She is a collector of fleeting moments of pure pleasure.

Pavilioned In Splendor, Oil, 24 x 36

Golfo Tsakumis

After many years of painting, Golfo began experimenting on different surfaces with acrylics. This pushed her to expand her horizons and tap into new areas of paintings that she had not yet explored. There is an evident freedom and personal expression with an abstraction which reflects in her new collection.

Shayla Nolan

Shayla Nolan is a fine artist and art educator working out of northern New Jersey, USA, whose works seek to explore the fundamental importance of visual arts in life. Shay seeks to question and blur the lines between high art and craft, traditional study, and experimentation and flips the historically masculine connotation of abstract expressionism on its head through colorful, shameless, and tacky art. Educated formally at The College of New Jersey in Art Education and Art History, Shay pulls from her contemporary and historical understandings of visual art and its importance to human thought, emotion, and communication. By creating works based on traditional foundations with flair and material use commonly associated with craft, Shay aims to make viewers question the difference between "scholarly" fine art and emotion-based visual explorations, and the societal standards that divide the practice of creative expression. Shay believes that art can be therapeutic, honest, and true while still standing up for itself.

Earths In Vessel Watercolor Collage 8 x 10

Regina Roland

After a career spent in the art of teaching, I decided to dabble in the art of watercolor. That dabble became a passion. A lover of nature, I draw peace and inspiration from all it has to offer. Many of my pieces transport me to sunny meadows or wooded realms where my spirit soars. Whether my work is realistic or abstract my wish is that this spirit has wended its way to my paintings. My work has been exhibited in both local and national galleries. My pieces are held in both national and international collections.
